Carla's Final Post (Part 2 of 3)

Campaigning for Hillary Clinton was one of the greatest experiences of my life.  It was a time filled with the highest of  highs and the lowest of lows.   Great highs such as Hillary winning the Pennslyvannia primary and great lows, which would be Hillary not winning the nomination for president from the democratic party.

What started out as me wanting to learn about the political process regardless of the candidate ending up being something so much more.  My mind and heart have been opened up to the many people I met during Hillary's campaign who did so much for Hillary and whom I now consider to be a part of life.  Especially Chad, who is now one of my dearest friends.

So many hours of my time were spent on the weekends talking to people across these great United States, and I can tell you that everyone has a different story but for the most part, all the endings are the same. We all want this country to be sound economically, we all want to feel safe, we all want to heard, and we all wanted our individual candidate to be the winner. I loved talking to the people who didn't like Hillary just as much as I liked talking to people who loved Hillary.

It was never my intention to have a website or to be a "blogger."  I don't consider myself a "blogger," which is partly why Chad and I are closing down this website. I started blogging on Hillary's main site to recruit people to make phone calls, and that is how I met Chad.  My main goal was to get people to make phone calls on behalf of Hillary. The other reason I don't want to do this anymore is that I'm just sick of hearing people argue back and forth about the two current candidates.

It was great to read people's comments and converse with people on this site.  They always kept me thinking about what is I am saying and doing.  I would love to keep that conversation going via e-mail. (Carlaforhillary@gmail.com)

I have friends who are voting for McCain, and I have friends who are voting for Obama. While I may not agree with why they are voting the way they are, I can understand.  Just like so many people listened to me and understood why I was for Hillary.

Why was I for Hillary? In the beginning it was simply because she won New Hampshire, and I was impressed by that.  I didn't even really like her all that much and would have been fine with Obama as the candidate. But the more I learned about each candidate, the more impressed I became with Hillary. For everything she has stood for, from speaking in front of the Chinese people and telling them to stop killings babies to  the Schip program she got passed in Congress.  Hillary is a mentor to me, and I aspire to be like her.

It saddens me to hear people put Hillary down for not living up to whatever they are expecting her to do with respect to the sexism against Palin or how much she is campaigning for Obama.  After all Hillary has done for us, the least of which is ignore her volunteers - Hillary is doing what she needs to do and we should respect her for that. She deserves that from us at the very least.

Remember this-Hillary did not have to run for President. She is rich and she could just have been a Senator for the rest of her life.  Hillary ran for President for us, because she cares about what happens to our country.  In the process Hillary became a stronger woman, and I think she and Bill Clinton fell in love again.  I'm happy with that. I'm happy for Hillary.

If Obama loses this election, I will be campaigning for Hillary the day after.  Expect a phone call.

Chad's Final Say (The Finale: Part 1 of 3- Chad and Carla Say Goodbye to HillaryGreenMountain.ORG)

Photobucket

"Forgive, Sounds Good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting"

It appropriate that I use the Dixie Chicks lyrics for what will be my final post on HillaryGreenMountain.org.
Some days I feel like they must have felt. But one thing keeps me positive: How it turned out for them. And it will for us. (at some point)

I'd  like to forgive. I most definitely can't forget. And for me a run in 2012 would heal everything. If not I know in my heart we, with Hillary, made a HUGE difference.

And we were right. And she will continue to make a difference to better for all of us in some capacity. And I'll be there helping her, somehow.

"I'm through with doubt
There's nothing left for me to figure out
I've paid a price
And I'll keep paying"

I AM through with doubt. I have nothing to figure out. Hillary may be saying "VOTE Barack" But she taught me otherwise in the primary. Then when she said nothing, I did my own homework. And I figured out this is not the man that I want as MY President. I don't think he should be anyone's President. And I made up my own mind on that. Hillary had NOTHING to do with that. Now she is campaigning for him. She is doing what she wants/has to do. And so am I.

I'm mad at the DNC. Im mad at the Obama-thugs. I was in DC for the Rules and By-Laws meeting.  When it is re-examined in the years to come ( and it will be looked at ) the inaccuracies and frauds will be exposed. Too little too late.  There were fighters there. I met some amazing people there. What a force. What happened was wrong no matter who you supported. And we knew it!

Im still mad at the way we were treated in Philly. We were yelled at. Called racists. Spit at. These people have "UNITED" with the political thugs of the DNC and Chicago. Funny that before this election, I guarantee that these people NEVER engaged. And I don't fault them for finally making it to the party. I fault them for not doing the leg work that is your responsibility when you vote. Voting for someone based on the color of their skin? Either way, it's wrong. And I'm the racist? OK. Sure.

I will say this. I am voting for McCain. It's not an easy decision. It's not just sour grapes. I am a gay man. I am pro-choice.

But in the end I truly believe that John McCain is a better man than Obama. If for one second I thought that Obama was a better man- even without the experience- I would vote for him. But I can't. His judgement and associations are enough to 110% prove to me that he is in no way fit to lead. Arrogance and tolerance never go together. And loyalty says something. No matter policy, loyalty is something McCain has in surplus!

So I am voting for who I think is the better man. For me, that's more important. Yes we need change. A new direction. And that starts with INTEGRITY. I don't believe Obama has that. At all. So all the "talk" about policies being the "same" as Hillary mean NOTHING to me when there is ZERO integrity. No one can convince me otherwise.

That is my path. It's not Carla's. It's not yours. And that is fine.

Respect.

These Obama-thugs have turned this election into something dark with cries of racism. What is the thuggery that they use on everyone who does not think like them? Communism! Elitism! Fascism! ???

"I'm not ready to make nice
I'm not ready to back down
I'm still mad as hell and
I don't have time to go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
'Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is you think I should"

I know you said
Can't you just get over it
It turned my whole world around
And I kind of like it"

This may not be the way we planned it, but I am gonna embrace this. After the election, Ill be right "back in line" with Hillary. Hillary. Not Obama. Not Howard Dean. Sure as hell not that BITCH Donna Brazille (sorry she is!). And not the Democratic Party, unless they do some house cleaning.

I won't however get over it. EVER.

"I made my bed and I sleep like a baby
With no regrets and I don't mind sayin'
It's a sad sad story when a mother will teach her
Daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger
And how in the world can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Sayin' that I better VOTE FOR "HIM",
Or my life will be over"

Yes- I have been told that. I have been threatened throughout this election season. And I'm not the only one.

I'm ready for this election to be over. Yes the economy is in the crapper. Yes government is corrupt. Whatever. I find it more upsetting that people are acting like this election is a way to justify treating other Americans as dirt if they don't agree. Do I want McCain to win? Not really. Over Obama. HELL YES. But I have NEVER seen anything like the thuggery that I have first hand experience with. I am scared about what will happen with these people if he DOESN'T get in to office. We have seen what they/HE has done to people.

"Forgive, sounds good
Forget, I'm not sure I could
They say time heals everything
But I'm still waiting........"

There were so many positive things to come out of all of this. But I can't see that too well right now. I know it's there though. And thats comforting. That song sums it up perfectly. It's where I am at.

Take Care. Stay tuned.

Carla and I will have more on our future plans shortly. That will be the last post on HGM.org. We will explain.........

Who are you voting for and Why?

As a newbie into the foray of politics and blogging, I love talking to people and hearing what they have to say. Who are you voting for and why?

Just so everyone is clear:  I'm voting for Obama but I am against him and McCain.  Chad is voting for and supporting McCain.  I fully support everyone's opinions, except those that bash Hillary. Sorry! This is a pro-Hillary site.

 del.icio.us  Stumbleupon  Technorati  Digg

Today's Gallup Poll: McCain @ 46% Obama @ 44%!

Wow.  I can't believe McCain has pulled ahead of Obama in today's gallup poll.  Obama should have picked Hillary as his vice president instead of Joe Biden.  Adding Hillary to the ticket would have only added more support for Obama because she had 18 million voters, many of whom were advocating for a Obama/Hillary ticket.  Surely, no Obama supporters would have not voted for Obama if Hillary was on the ticket.

As of right now, I'm voting for Obama, but that is subject to change.  I'm not happy about it at all.   I am not voting for McCain I want to be able to skew him if neccessary.  McCain is ahead of Obama because the American people don't believe a word of what Obama says as true.  It will be interesting to see after Hillary's speech tonight if Obama has a bump in the polls.  If he doesn't, I'm sure Hillary will be blamed no matter what.

With all of that being said..I still support PUMA and Just Say No deal.  I admire them for standing up for what they believe in.  I on the other hand, keep changing my mind.  As I have stated in the past, I was all excited about this upcoming election, only to be shocked into oblivion by the liberal left skewing of Hillary Clinton.  They make me sick.

The fighting Continues as Biden is named VP!

After reading the comments of this CNN article, which is about how some Clinton supporters are outraged because Hillary is not on the ticket, my conclusion is not that Obama is  going to lose because of "bitter" Hillary and "angry" Obama supporters ticking me off with their "get over it rant".  Obama is going to lose because of Obama.  Obama supporters think Hillary supporters won't vote for Obama because we are so mad about Hillary not winning and Hillary not being named VP. ....................NO!

The Clinton supporters that this article is talking about are those who are thinking that rationally, Hillary would have been the best choice for vice president because she would have came with 18 million votes and the qualifications to be president if Obama, for some reason had to leave office. With Hillary on the ticket as VP, the election would have been a landslide. I would have thrown my support totally behind Obama because it would be best for the country to have Hillary as VP, even though I do not want to see Obama as president.

On the other hand, I'm glad Hillary isn't on the ticket and now I don't feel as though I have to vote for Obama.  With Hillary on the ticket, if Obaba were to win, she would be doing all the work, and Obama getting all the credit.  So, yes Obama supporters, I am capable of putting my feelings aside.  As I said in the above paragraph, I would have voted for Obama with Hillary on the ticket.  Obama by himself is worse than McCain.  McCain by himself is worse than an Obama/Hillary ticket.

What Obama supporters fail to understand about Hillary supporters is that we are not going to vote for  Obama because Hillary lost. We are not supporting him because he is not qualified and we would rather see four more years of the same thing then the country get worse with Obama.  Hillary supporters have vetted Obama  He a mess, and it reflects in the polls.  Sorry!

The argument from the Obama supporters that "Hillary and Obama have the same policies, so you people are crazy not to vote for him!" is baseless.  Hillary would have successfully implemented those policies, and Obama, not so much.

As far a Joe Biden goes, I don't know much about him but, it seems as though the Republicans do.

The problem is not that Hillary supporters are voting McCain.  Donna Brazille said the party doesn't need us for Obama to win.  The problem is that the Democratic leaders live in fantasy land and instead of pushing for a qualified candidate like Hillary or Joe Biden from the start, they chose Obama. Someone with no experience to qualify him as president.

What angers me is not that Hillary lost, what angers me is that I, along with many other Americans have not been interested in politics enough that we keep letting ourselves get snowed by the Democratic leaders. But no more. So I'm actually thankful for Hillary losing in the sense that it awoke me and millions of other people in America to what is really going on in the Democratic party.

Obama supporters should remember when they call us sore losers that they would feel just like us. Trust me, there is nothing more than I would like to do then say "I'm voting for Obama!" But I just can't.  Obama has been self-imploding for so many months, I just don't see how he is going to win.   If Hillary runs in 2012, I'm sure that Obama supporters will do what the PUMAS are doing now.

What we need in fours years is a real candidate who is qualified to be president, and if nothing else Hillary Clinton, running or not,  has ensured that democrats will no longer stand for whoever the party leaders try to shove down our throats.  I'm still holding on to the thought that Obama will say and do something that will make me vote for him. But he hasn't done it yet.   Obama's losing this election is the fault of the democratic leaders and Obama, not Hillary Clinton.

Obama should have stood by what he said - That he wouldn't be ready to run in 2008 - that was most real thing I've ever heard him say.

Obama lives in Dreamland!

In all Honesty,  I'm not going to pretend to know how to debate "Foreign Policy" with respect to the Georgia - Russia conflict, but I know enough to never have thought we could be "Best Buds" with Russia.  I also have never had a problem with our government building a strong defense for America.  One of the original concepts of our forefathers was that it is the federal goverment's job to build a strong defense for America.

Of course, I don't want war, and I want us out of Iraq, but America is what it is today because of us fighting for our freedom and if we don't have proper military protection we will lose that freedom.  I saw this video today of Barack talking about how he is going to "disarm" our military on NoQuarter.  No wonder all of our enemies love him.

I'm sure Barack will come out now with a different version of what he will do with respect to the military because of the Russians halting their military operations with NATO, but the fact that he wanted to do this in the first place is frightening.   I miss Hillary!

New Statement from the Clintons About Stephanie Tubbs Jones....

Statement of Former President William J. Clinton, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton on the Passing of Chairwoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones

There are few words to express the shock we feel at this time. Our deepest condolences are with Stephanie's son, Mervyn, her family, and her many loved ones, friends, and supporters.

Stephanie's friendship meant the world to us, a friendship that deepened through every trial and challenge. We could always count on her to be a shoulder on which to lean, an ear to bend, a voice to reassure. Over the course of many years, with many ups and many downs, Stephanie was right by our side-unwavering, indefatigable.

It was that fighting spirit-safely stowed behind her disarming smile, backed by so much integrity and fiery intelligence-that allowed Stephanie to rise from modest beginnings, to succeed in public service, to become a one-woman force for progress in our country.

All of us who were lucky to know her and love her can only hope now to live like her-to be as passionate, loyal, hard charging, and joyful in life's pursuits.

Stephanie was one of a kind. We will miss our friend always.

What Would Shirley Have Wanted

Photobucket

As I batten down the hatches here in Florida, awaiting Tropical Storm Fay, I just wanted to impart a few thoughts.  If I’m without electricity for the next few days, maybe some of you bloggers can take this… and run with it…

***********************

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Schlemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.”

Beep, beep.  Back up the “beer” truck. I’m not talking about Shirley Feeney, the innocent, working-class heroine on the TV show, “Laverne and Shirley.”  I don’t even know who Cindy Williams is supporting in this election. I’m talking about the late Shirley Chisholm (November 30, 1924January 1, 2005).

If you’re in your mid forties, like I am, you probably recall Shirley’s name but don’t know much about her.  I first learned about Shirley when I was a kid, while watching an episode of “All in the Family.”  I recall Archie’s daughter, Gloria, campaigning for Shirley. I then went on to learn more about this great woman.

Shirley was a politician, an educator, an author, and a congresswoman from New York from 1969 – 1983.  Shirley Chisholm was the first major party African-American candidate for President. According to the DNC records, Shirley received 152 first-ballot votes at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. She won only 28 delegates during the primaries.  But here’s the kicker… During a “hotly contested primary” between McGovern and Humphrey, Humphrey knew that McGovern would win, so as a symbolic gesture, Humphrey released his African American delegates to Chisholm, giving her the total of 152 first ballot votes.

What I really love about this amazing woman is what she did during the primary.  Apparently, Shirley Chisholm created quite the controversy when she visited George Wallace in the hospital soon after his shooting in May 1972, smack dab in the middle of the presidential campaign.

Wallace was touched.  So much so, that several years later, Chisholm worked on a bill to give domestic workers the right to a minimum wage.  Guess who helped her gain enough votes to get the legislation though the house by influencing southern congressmen?  Yup.  George Wallace.

No doubt… no doubt Chisholm’s candidacy was historic.  With so many parallels between Shirley Chisholm’s run and this year (the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I’ve got a Dream” speech, and the anniversary of women getting the right to vote, you would think the MSM would spend it’s time talking about how Hillary’s name being placed in nomination is not an anomaly. That’s the real story. Instead, the MSN must spend it’s time promoting Obama propaganda, such as McCain cheated at Saddleback.

All I can say is, shame on you, Andrea Mitchell!

There’s so much that’s gone on during this election that is worthy of reporting:  possible voter fraud; Pelosi buying Obama endorsements; Obama buying Obama endorsements; Ayers; Wright; Rezko; Obama’s team pulling the race card; what goes on at a “camp Obama,” the fact that Florida and Michigan were unfairly sanctioned; Obama blocking legal revote actions in Florida and Michigan; and the fact that Hillary Clinton really won the popular vote.

While most of the MSN is truly “in the tank” for Obama, we all know that there are two cable networks that have been the biggest offenders:  CNN and MSNBC.  I laughed when I saw the new CNN ads on television.  “No agenda,” they claim.  It’s sad when a once respectable news outlet has to defend itself in commercials.  Now, it’s MSNBC’s turn.

I’m actually happy that the McCain campaign has gone after them.  After McCain’s impressive performance this weekend, he has every right to claim his victory without the MSM or Obama diminishing it.  I remember when I won the 600 yard dash in the 6th grade.  Even my gym teacher couldn’t believe it.  One of the cool, star athletic young women in the school was crushed that I, a nervous and nerdy studious girl, actually beat her.  My teacher didn’t help matters when she told me publicly that I wasn’t allowed to be happy for my win because the other girl felt bad about her loss.  No, my teacher’s last name wasn’t Axlerod.

MSNBC is like my 6th grade teacher.  As much as I learned from that woman, I still recall how unfair her comments often could be… like the day she publicly singled me out as the first girl in the class to grow boobs. (Hey, times were different then… I got over the comments, but I still have the boobs!)  MSNBC purposely underplayed Hillary Clinton’s victories.  Hillary was me in the sixth grade.  She had the substance, but maybe not the style.  Maybe she didn’t get invited to the “popular girl’s” (Pelosi’s) party, but we knew in the end that Hillary had what it took to get the job done.  She won the race, but she wasn’t allowed to celebrate.  After all, the other person was supposed to win!  How dare she, or her supporters, even think of claming victory?

Okay, enough of my pre-pubescent psychological dramas.  I’ll get to my point --  MSNBC seems to be making a concerted effort to be the anti-FOX.  They seem to want to pander to all that is the left, even if it means telling half-truths or blatant lies.

What can we do about it?  If you read this post and you agree that MSNBC is biased toward Obama, and if you agree that Andrea Mitchell was out of line, I’d like you to write to MSNBC this week and ask them one simple question:  “Why isn’t Andrea Mitchell… a proud woman and journalist, spending her time reporting the facts about this election?  Why is she pandering to the Obama campaign?

It goes deeper than this.  PUMA’s are being portrayed in the MSM as “fringe.”  We’re hormonal housewives who cannot get over the fact that our candidate lost.  No matter that we are 40% male, not all initial Clinton supporters, and we’re simply refusing to vote for a candidate who we do not believe is qualified.  PUMA’s care about party and country, but if you ask Nancy Pelosi, we need our heads examined!  Obama doesn’t need our votes anyway.  Since he’s “sent from above,” I assume he’ll be able to part Lake Okeechobee and somehow turn Florida blue again.

My mom found out later that my six grade teacher wanted to “play down my talents” in front of the other kids since I was reading at the 12th grade level, and she didn’t know what to do with me.  Twisted logic?   Sure.  It was the 70’s.  But, what’s MSNBC’s logic for skewing facts that could indeed change the course of American history?  I hardly doubt it’s as altruistic as a sixth grade teacher being dumbfounded as to what to do with a gifted student and wanting to save the other kids’ egos.

Isn’t that what the MSN is doing?  Playing everything down?  Hillary Clinton having her name placed in nomination shouldn’t have even been a question.  The only reason is a question, is that Barack Obama cannot seal the deal.

Something is rotten at Rockefeller Center.  I hope John McCain’s team can get to the bottom of it and maybe we can, too.  Will you blog and write emails for me while my electricity is out for the next two days?  Better yet, write to your cable company and tell them that they should no longer carry MSNBC.  We’ve tried boycotting sponsors.  Maybe this will work.

If you won’t do it for me… think about what Shirley would have wanted… Even though Barack Obama’s candidacy his historic in the terms of that he’s winning the nomination,  knowing what kind of person Shirley Chisholm was, do you really think she’d want Hillary (or us) to be treated like this by a cable news network?

McCain's up by five points over "THE Chosen ONE"

Photobucket

According to the new Reuters poll, John McCain is beating Barack Obama by five percentage points. Who would have predicted that? Turns out that the McCain camp was smart to go after Obama's celebrity image. Suddenly, Obama's decision to make his convention acceptance speech in a stadium doesn't look so good, inasmuch as it reinforces the idea that he's got a big head.

And all of this before any "October Surprises" by the Repubs! I can't say that I'm  unhappy about all this. Thing is  there is STILL time to change it. I know it won't happen, BUT: HILLARY IS THE ONE!!!

DNC Convention Credentials Feature Upside-Down Flag

Photobucket
Having seen photo propaganda used in the media to benefit Barack Obama, one has to wonder if it will be equally important to circulate a picture that may not show the 'savior' in a particularly good light. As such, a ticket design for the Democratic National Convention has been accompanied by a bit of controversy.

The credential appears to show an upside-down American flag on both sides. What's worse, the front makes it appear as if Obama is cloaked in the flag, as the stars are almost visually equivalent to his shirt. In fact, Matt Chandler speaking on behalf of the Obama campaign states:

"...it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama's shirt with the flag blowing in the wind."

The first question that arises is why would a man who once refused to wear the American flag on his lapel, be interested in sporting a patriotic shirt, overflowing with stars?

Second question, despite the following denial from the Democratic National Convention Committee...

"The DNCC community credentials incorporate patriotic design elements. They do not depict an actual American flag."

... How did the designer of the credentials not realize that perception might lead people to believe this is indeed a representation of an upside-down flag?

The blue field and stars on the ticket clearly are shown at the bottom left corner, and accompanying that with wavy red and white stripes does in fact, make this look like a flag.

Kristi King, the artist chosen to design the credentials had this to say when asked about her prospective inspiration:

"The most important initial inspiration comes from the client."

Perhaps this was the client inspiration she was referring to...Photobucket

Anyhow, flag etiquette states that:

When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be in the uppermost corner and to the flags own right, that is, to the observer's left.

As iterated above, an observer of the DNC ticket would clearly see the field and stars to the lower left, bucking respectful protocol.

Then again, could we possibly have expected anything else?

Further flag flying rules stipulate:

The flag should never be dipped to any person or thing. It is flown upside down only as a distress signal.

Could it be possible that the Obama campaign is experiencing a little distress?
